Micro Screw Head Styles: Pan, Countersunk and Low-Profile Selection

Micro Screw Head Styles: Pan, Countersunk and Low-Profile Selection

Electronics have tight internal space. Micro screw head style affects assembly height, flushness and appearance. Pan, countersunk, low-profile and cylindrical heads suit different scenes.

Pan Head

Pan head has larger diameter and rounded top, with good bearing surface—most universal. Downside: higher head height, so thin devices need clearance check.

Countersunk Head

Countersunk heads sit flush in prepared cone holes for a flat appearance, ideal for covers and cosmetic surfaces. Deep countersinking can crack plastic, so matching cone holes are needed.

Low-Profile Head

Low-profile heads are short and wide, used in tight laptops, tablets and battery compartments to reduce thickness. Bearing area is large but underside contact is small; add washers on plastic.

Selection Advice

Internal structural parts prefer pan head; cosmetic covers prefer countersunk; ultra-thin devices prefer low-profile. Check under-head clearance, bit access angle and pilot holes.
